Become a PADI Instructor

Becoming a PADI Instructor is a big step, we’ll make it as easy and stress free as possible. We’ll support you and clearly explain all the steps to take.  Once you enrol with us we are there whenever you want us to explain the process, to sort out problems and just be that person who can help and guide you in your career.  When you do your IDC with us you’ll embark on a lifetime of support; we become your friend, your mentor and adviser during your diving career.

Instructor Development Course

The PADI IDC takes 6 days plus an extra day for the EFR Instructor course.  You will also need to complete the online theory in advance, this is included in the price and we’ll send you all the relevant details once you enrol.  The PADI IDC is the full Instructor course and includes the Assistant Instructor (AI) qualification. There is a mixture of classroom, confined water and open water work but the focus is on you getting practical training and our 2 Course Directors will be there guiding you every step of the way.  So get ready to start teaching, this course gets you on the road to being a fully qualified SCUBA Instructor.  On successful completion of this course you will then be qualified to attend the final PADI Instructor Examination (IE).

Over the 6 days, our IDC teaches you to conduct all PADI core courses. You’ll be able to organise and present information, conduct skill development sessions and control open water dives. Basically, you become a better public speaker and get really good at demonstrating skills while watching out for student diver safety. Key topics include:

  • PADI Standards and Procedures for courses you can teach with in water workshops
  • Learning, Instruction and the PADI System
  • Risk Management and Diver Safety
  • The Business of Diving and your role as an instructor
  • Marketing Diving and Sales Counselling

How Do I Get There?

Getting to Gozo is easy as most major airlines fly to Malta and there are direct flights from many major cities in Europe. When you arrive for just €2 you can get a bus directly to the ferry,  jump on the ferry and we can pick you up the other side. If you prefer something a bit faster we can arrange a transfer for around €55 (for 1-2 people)

How Do I Register?

To register for the course, we ask for a €200 deposit. Complete payment is required before the course starts. If you are unable to attend the course you registered for, you can change future dates at no extra cost.

What Equipment Do I Need?

BCD, regulator, fins, mask, snorkel, dive computer, compass, dive knife, visible and audible signalling device. Free basic equipment rental is included in the course but owning your own as a dive professional is highly recommended.

Where Do I Stay?

We are happy to offer you accommodation at a discounted rate in our staff house (shared room) for a discounted price. We strongly recommend you stay on Gozo for comfort and for studying. Our office staff will help you arrange this in advance. Expect to budget between €18 – €75 per night for accommodation depending on level of luxury you require.
