Who can do a PADI internship?

Anyone who loves diving or really wants to learn to explore the underwater world. We have PADI Divemaster and Instructor internships available but even if you are a not ready to Go Pro just yet and even if you are a complete beginner, talk to us as we will have PADI internships to suit your needs. Whilst there are minimum age limits for some courses there is no maximum age limit for any of our internships so you can still apply if you are 100 years young!

About Our Internships

Despite our small group sizes we train more PADI professionals than any other dive centre in Malta or Gozo. That’s because we commit to training PADI Divers and Professionals all season long, we have a reputation for brilliant training and a 100% safety record.

We have a range of options for working and learning PADI internships, working in the dive centre 5 or 6 days every week, or simply on-the-job training. Learn how to handle a boat and work onboard, repair diving equipment, filling tanks correctly, prepare dive kit and look after it properly at the end of each dive and of course helping customers are just of the important aspects of dive centre operations you will learn all this and more when you do an internship with us.

Unlike some internships you may have seen, ours are not all about work and studying – there’s lots of diving too. On average you can expect to dive every day, accompanying and helping Instructors, assisting customers on dives whilst experiencing the fabulous underwater world of Gozo and you will always be under the supervision of one of our senior Instructors. Providing you with this amount of diving, which may be recreational or on courses, unquestionably supports your training gives you the benefit of ‘real-life’ diving scenarios and how these are managed properly.

DIVEMASTER INTERNSHIPS

To begin the training to become a PADI Divemaster you will need to be a PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent and at least 18 years of age. If you have not yet achieved your Rescue Diver certification that is not a problem as we can help you get there.

Usually our Divemaster internships are a minimum of one month. Why? Because that gives you an awesome experience of what it’s like to be part of the diving industry. INSTRUCTOR INTERNSHIPS

To begin the training to become a PADI Instructor you will need to be a PADI Divemaster or equivalent.  Not reached that level yet?  No problem, we can put together a training program to get you there.

Instructor internships culminate in the PADI Instructor Development course (IDC), a 6-day course plus a day for the EFRI.  Upon the successful completion of the IDC the final step is the PADI Instructor Exams (IE).  For more information about the IDC look in our courses section.

Working for us after the internship?

There is also the possibility that after you have completed your internship, you can stay on and assist our Instructors and customers giving you valuable experience and even more dives. You can also use this experience as a reference when applying for dive jobs in the future.

Working internships

We are not like some dive centres that make you work all day every day with very little diving, we promise that you will dive every day on average so if you spend 90 days with us you can count on doing 90 dives. No other dive centre promises you this amount of diving.

You will help out in and around the dive centre doing a full range of duties contributing to the general running of the dive centre, including but not limited to, filling tanks, cleaning and preparing customer equipment, helping out customers at dive sites and accompanying customers on dives and courses along with the instructor. When you are helping and assisting divers under training you will always be under the direct supervision of one of our senior intructors. You will be an integral part of our team keeping the Dive Centre operating efficiently ensuring all the needs of our customers are taken care of and helping maintain a highly efficient Diver Centre.

Once you are qualified providing you have met our standards you will be able to work as an integral part of our instructor team, teaching courses and guiding our customers. However we will never make you do anything you are not ready for, we value our customers so highly and safety is so important to us that we make sure you only do things you are qualified to do and ready to do.

Accommodation

We can help you find accommodation. For the last few years our interns have rented a 3 bed apartment and shared the costs, normally this equates to around €350 per month each.

Our smoking policy – working internships

Promoting a healthy and safe environment is important to both our staff and customers alike. We operate a very strict NO SMOKING policy for all members of staff and working interns at Bubbles, both during work and outside of work. If you are a smoker please do not apply for our working internships as we will be unable to take you on.

How to Apply

If you would like to complete an internship with us then the first thing you need to do is fill out our application form here. This will give us the information to get an idea of what you are looking for and how we can best help you. Our Dive Centre Manager, Lee, will review you application and then contact you, probably for an informal chat to go over any other points and answer any questions you may have. Following this, if you are still interested we will put together a proposal outlining our discussions with all the details of our proposal. Once you have received this you just need to confirm to us you accept our offer.
